Torches are an affordable and easy way to melt down your gold and other precious metals, as well as preforming other hobbies and tasks such as: brazing, welding, and even jewelry repair. It is important to educate yourself before melting down your own metals. There are many safety hazards and variables when using an open flame torch and safety should always come first. Make sure you have proper heat resistant safety equipment and a good idea of the overall process before you begin. Using a torch method for melting, you first place your material or scrap into a graphite or ceramic crucible dish. The crucible should be placed on a fireproof surface or heat resistant board and then use your torch to apply heat and melt your material. It is always a good idea to add a flux such as anhydrous borax to your melt. We offer handheld torches in a variety of different styles and gasses including propane, butane, and acetylene.
